For my startup project darticle, we have several "jobs" which need to be taken care of outside of standard web page serving, including e-mailing and web scraping. For scalability, these jobs are handled asynchronously and concurrently, with the goal of the job queue being able to scale across various servers. Here I will write about darticle's solution for implementing such a job management system with CouchDB.
One of the side effects of needing a temporary directory is needing to clean up after yourself. In my case, I extract a plugin into its own temporary directory (though it's currently not sandboxed) and load assemblies (kinda like ELF files) from that directory. When my plugin objects are disposed of (IDisposable and all that), the directory needs to be deleted.
Woo~ I'm alive.
Tired, because I didn't get much sleep yesterday, but alive.
Not much to say except I prefer one side of my blanket to the other.
Graduation is tomorrow; hope I don't ruin my life with that.
Well, that's quite nice.
Right now I'm not deadly tired, but I can tell I didn't receive enough sleep.
Yesterday's nap were completely unsuccessful. Zero REM. Felt like I was trying to sleep in the sun. Not that easy.
Oh well...
Oh, cool. It's 0938 while I'm writing this.
So I'm sure you can understand I woke up just a tad late. A wee seven hours late.
All of yesterday, I felt really tired. All of yesterday, my naps felt like two hours. Yet, all of yesterday, I woke up before my alarm for each nap.
This is getting strange.
I think I may need to extend my three hour sleep period into a five hour one. I still gain an average of two hours (six hours of sleep instead of eight), and hopefully I'll oversleep much less.
I'm thinking the easiest solution for adjustment is to extend the three hour block one hour on either end, so I sleep at 2100 and wake at 0200. I'll begin tonight.
I can't wait.
Well, all is going well, I guess.
Yesterday, for each nap, I woke up one or two minutes before my alarm was set to fire. Crazy. Never heard my alarm that day except in the early morning.
Last night wasn't too bad, either. I'm still having problems waking up, but I always have.
My 16:30 nap was interrupted by an oldish (50's?) cashier saying my IRL name very loudly. After that, my heart was pounding so much I couldn't get back to sleep.
Other than that, my naps were awesome. <3
Sleep over the night wasn't too bad, either. I actually woke up (woo!), mostly thanks to my DS being fully open with the speakers unobstructed due to a complex electronic system causing the DS to think it's closed, saving power (i.e. thanks for the magnet, Dad).
Well... Bye? See you tomorrow? =S?
Well, my DS closed. This covered the speaker, and the alarm wasn't quite as loud as it needed to be.
I think tonight, I'm going to place a magnet on my DS, so it thinks it's closed, but the speakers are unobstructed.
At least Shinde (who thought it was 01:29) woke me up around 05:10 and not much later. Thanks, Shinde.
Oh, and on the naps ... They went well, I guess. I think I'm very adjusted to having 20 minute naps now, as I'm waking up two or three minutes before the alarm sounds most of the time.
I finally made it! Week 2!
Well it's not like I could have died, anyway.
I'm glad I set up my DS alarm, because it seems to be working. Except I need to memorize how snooze words.
Yesterday's naps were pretty solid. I'm pretty much pro at napping now, I guess.
Gonna keep sticking to Everyman.
Hey, look. An alarm.
I stopped hitting SNOOZE around 01:30. Better than waiting until 07:00 or 05:30 or whatever.
Yesterday's naps were hell. They were poorly timed and ... I pretty much got no sleep from them. Oh well; I (sorta) tried.
Really hoping today will go beautifuly.
